Privatewiki is a simple application to help you in the way you store your personal notes today.
Today, you possibly take your notes in paper, plain textfiles all over your hard-disk and such. You use them once and send them to the trash, so you lose context and relationship they have with previous annotations.
Privatewiki helps you to store your notes in a simple application, based in open standards. Your notes are all added to a single datafile (which you can carry in a USB pendrive, send by FTP, etc)
Each document displays in a wiki-style, so you see related concepts and you can navigate your annotations easily.
Soon, an embedded search engine will help you to find specific notes quickly. Also, Privatewiki will support different "views" of the documents you wrote.
Privatewiki is being developed in Java (JDK 1.4), and is tested on Sun JDK on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X.
The 0.1 beta requires Sun Java Runtime Environment (or JDK) version 1.4 or newer. This is only for this version. Newer versions of privatewiki will try to support JREs/JDKs from different vendors, and possibly the GNU Classpath.
The following are screenshots from the current beta, version 0.1 (click to enlarge)
